Hotel El Establo
Quaker friendship awaits you in our hotel, set in a private 150 acres farm (50% protected primary forest) adjacent to the Monteverde Reserve.
The Monteverde Cloudforest Preserve traverses the Tilarán Mountain Range, which is part of the Continental Divide. The area has been most appropriately named Monteverde, “Green Mountain”, since that is what travellers find at the end of the hour and 30-minutes ride up a long and steep gravel road that winds up the mountain range due northeast of the Panamerican Highway. Enjoy a relaxing experience at our very spacious rooms: wall to wall carpeting, hot water in separate bath tub and shower, mini bar, coffee maker, Cable TV, security box, private balcony and the best views of the area.
Frommers.com Review
El Establo translates as "the stable." From a working stable owned by a local Quaker family, with just a handful of budget rooms, this place has morphed into what is certainly the largest and most luxurious hotel in Monteverde. It is still owned and managed by the same family. A series of buildings are spread up a steep hill. The rooms are all quite large and have private balconies or patios taking in spectacular views. All rooms come with cable television, and all rooms are nonsmoking. The luxurious honeymoon suites have fabulous views and a private Jacuzzi. The 400-block of rooms are my favorites. There's one midsize outdoor swimming pool and another slightly smaller pool built under a high-open air roof, for when it's raining. El Establo owns 48 hectares (119 acres) of land backing the hotel, and half of that is primary forest. The also have an on-site canopy tour, and extensive spa.
